Sleep plays a vital role in providing good health and wellbeing. It allows our body and brain to slow down, thereby providing the much-needed rest and repair in order to function well in our lives. But to any accomplished Yogi this is an indirect way. The direct way is through sitting meditation where one can shut-off the mind and take conscious control of the rest/repair mechanism that sleep provides but in a far more efficient manner.

Through some deep breath-work, one can first gain control over the life force (prana) and then cut that off consciously.

When a Yogi consciously cuts-off the life force supply from the sense organs, he experiences real bliss (Turiya) that is absent in sleep and also attains first-hand knowledge of how the “repair” is done. 

Once you have mastered sitting meditation, the same repair can be easily done in your waking state and during your working hours.

Watch yourself shut-off/silence your entire nervous system through yogic will-power and then go into the world to attain what you want.
