Gurus appear to draw needless attention unto ourselves – most especially from those who don’t want to keep their own shit together. It’s so easy to gossip and talk about Gurus behind their back, talk about how they manipulate, brain-wash and exploit, pinpoint faults so that one can look better in their own eyes and self delude themselves.
Best one I often get is when they begin to draw comparisons with Gurus who are no longer living – such as how kind they were and how harsh I can get while I teach. They talk… as if they actually lived with one. If they did, they would realize that no-one can be perfect in all ways. It’s all a projection of ones own mind. Adi Da used to say “Dead Gurus can’t kick ass.” I couldn’t agree more.
I’m not competing with anyone. I have my own style and ideology of teaching, independent of my own teachers, and I feel many benefit from it. That’s why the Sangha is silently growing. I don’t make big noise/fuss about my following on social media. That doesn’t matter.
What matters is me being real and having in my heart what’s best for the seeker. And oftentimes the process involved may not always be pleasing and lovey-dovey.
